Home and community based services (HCBS) provide opportunities for Medicaid beneficiaries to receive services in their own home or community rather than institutions or other isolated settings.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities administers two Medicaid HCBS waiver programs – the Supports Program and Community Care Program – through which eligible individuals can access a variety of home and community based services. Home and community based services are intended to supplement rather than replace services received from other state programs, such as NJ FamilyCare or Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, or from natural supports, including families, neighbors or community organizations.
